Brad Pitt makes shocking admission after breaking silence on 'difficult' divorce from Angelina Jolie

Pitt spoke about his need to get his life back on track after his separation

Brad Pitt got reflective on how he dealt with his difficult and drawn out divorce from Angelina Jolie.

Pitt has been in a whirlwind of a public breakup with fellow actress Angelina Jolie for almost a decade, with the pair finalizing their divorce on the last day of 2024.

However, over the year, Pitt has remained quite tight-lipped about the fallout from the relationship. Jolie, on the other hand has been more open and has previously accused the actor of being abusive to her and their six children.

Court documents referenced one alleged incident during a flight to France back in 2016, the same year the pair announced their divorce.

The documents claimed Jolie was attacked by her then-husband, with one of their children also allegedly being assaulted on the flight in question, an accusation which Pitt has denied.

The FBI also investigated the accusation and Pitt was not charged with anything.

In a recent episode of the Armchair Expert podcast with Dax Shepard, Pitt spoke about his steps to becoming sober and how it helped him through a difficult time in his life during his separation.

Pitt said: “You know, I was pretty much on my knees and I was really open. I was trying anything and everyone, anything anyone threw at me.

“It was a difficult time. I needed rebooting. I needed to wake the f*** up in some areas. And it just meant a lot to me.”

Pitt also spoke about the openness of his AA meetings and how it ultimately helped him get back on track.

He added: “It gives you permission in a way to go, okay, I’m going to step out on this edge and see what happens.

“And then I really grew to love it.”

Pitt also noted that his previous comments being so open about Alcoholics Anonymous actually had him slightly reprimanded due to the process intending to be strictly anonymous.

Speaking of a previous interview he did in 2019, he continued: “I went on some New York Times interview and what an amazing thing this experience was for me.

“It was a men’s group, it was AA, it was when I first was getting sober. I just thought it was just incredible, men sharing their experiences, their foibles, their missteps, their wants, their aches, and a lot of humor with it.

“I thought it was really special experience coming from the Ozarks where we’re like, everything’s great.

“And so I do this interview and I say this and I got admonished by someone of the higher up saying, it's anonymous.”

Despite his slight reprimand, Pitt said that he deeply appreciated the experience he had.
